Every winter is a peak season for respiratory diseases, and this year is no exception…
Recently, the medication known as the “flu miracle drug,” Baloxavir marboxil, has seen its price rise to 300 yuan per box, with supply shortages reported in several regions and pharmacies.
According to the latest data from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention:
– Influenza is currently in its seasonal epidemic period, with an increase in the positive rate of influenza virus in flu-like cases nationwide.
– Sur 99% of these cases are caused by influenza A, primarily the A(H1N1)pdm09 subtype. Disease control centers in many regions have issued urgent reminders, urging the public to take precautions.
How to prevent or avoid severe illness? Get vaccinated, and more importantly, focus on health maintenance and conditioning.
For adults, getting vaccinated may be an effective way to prevent the flu and quickly boost immunity.
However, getting vaccinated is like attending extra classes—it only strengthens certain areas, such as math, while neglecting others. It only enhances specific immune functions, so how can it possibly cope with the ever-changing viruses?
To truly coexist with viruses in peace, whether to prevent infection or avoid severe illness, you must have a stable and comprehensive immune system.
How to improve immunity? It lies in daily maintenance of the body, including a balanced diet, exercice régulier, and proper rest. En plus, incorporating traditional Chinese medicine (MTC) for conditioning can be beneficial. The TCM concept of “nourishing the foundation and strengthening the body” through Reishi has proven to be highly effective in boosting immunity.
Reishi boosts immunity, fights viruses, and enhances your overall defense.
Many members frequently provide feedback that since taking Reishi, they are mostly able to avoid infection during flu season, and even if they do get infected, their symptoms are much milder. They truly feel the benefits Reishi has on their health.
Aujourd'hui, extensive pharmacological research has confirmed that Reishi indeed has effects in regulating immunity, combating viruses, and reducing inflammation.
Reseachers finds that Reishi triterpenes have anto-flu characteristics like anti-viruses.
Research has found that the triterpene compounds in Reishi have antiviral activity.
Dans 2015, a research team led by Associate Professor Kuniyoshi Shimizu from the Faculty of Agriculture, Université de Kyūshū, published a study in Rapports scientifiques confirming that several triterpene compounds from Reishi fruiting bodies exhibit inhibitory activity against neuraminidase of A-type influenza viruses, including H1N1 and H5N1.

The red-marked substances are Reishi triterpenes in the fruiting bodies of Reishi that can inhibit neuraminidase activity, including various ganoderic acids, ganoderenic acids, and lucialdehyde. These are the key components of Reishi in combating influenza A.
Today’s commonly used antiviral drug, oseltamivir, works in a similar way by inhibiting neuraminidase, an enzyme required for the replication of the influenza virus, thereby blocking the spread of the virus.
When neuraminidase loses its activity, newly formed viruses are trapped within the cells and cannot escape, reducing the threat to the host and helping to control the progression of the disease.
Reishi can also reduce the severity of H1N1-induced illness.
Dans 2017, the team published a study in the Journal of Functional Foods which found that hot water extracts of Reishi fruiting bodies can effectively protect mice and reduce the severity of H1N1-induced illness.
The researchers believe that the anti-influenza effects of hot water extracts from Reishi fruiting bodies are primarily due to the immune-boosting properties of Reishi polysaccharides, as well as the virus-inhibiting activity of Reishi triterpenes.
It can be said that the powerful combination of Reishi polysaccharides’ immune-boosting effect and triterpenes’ antiviral activity plays a significant role in both preventing influenza and reducing the severity of illness, thereby enhancing overall antiviral defense and resilience.
To conclude, rather than cramming at the last minute, it’s better to prepare in advance. Regularly pay attention to preventing potential risks and take care of your body. Consume Reishi products rich in polysaccharides and triterpenes to build up your immunity, so you won’t regret not having enough when it’s needed most!
